In today’s ever-changing world, supporting young people to thrive—not just survive—is essential. This dynamic professional development workshop, Building Resiliency: Empowering Youth Through Character, Critical Thinking & Community, equips afterschool and summer staff, school-day teachers, paraprofessionals, and youth development professionals with practical understanding of Florida’s Resiliency Standards, a framework to intentionally foster resiliency in youth, and strategies and resources to support this development.
Participants will explore resiliency through five core areas:
• Character Development
• Personal Responsibility
• Mentorship & Positive Relationships
• Citizenship & Community Engagement
• Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
From this workshop, participants will be able to:

Identify key components of youth resiliency and their connection to Florida’s Resiliency Standards

Implement strategies that promote character development and personal responsibility

Strengthen best practices and build positive relationships with youth

Incorporate citizenship and community-minded activities into programming
